Beastly Bites

Beastly Bites is an alphabetical set of humorous rhyming couplets about animals eating. It was published in 2001 and trialled in a number of Oldham's primary schools using ideas from an accompanying set of Teachers’ Notes, which were closely linked to the National Literacy Strategy of the time.

Although Beastly Bites was notionally written for children aged 5-7, it has proved popular with an older readership: parents who are amused by the range of behaviours exhibited by the animals in the rhyming couplets; aunts, uncles and other relatives who have read the book to their young nieces and nephews; and adults well past their three score years and ten who simply find them funny!
